Warner and his style of Democrat
As a Virginian I am proud that Governor Warner is going to give a high visibility speech at the Democratic convention. I am not a Democrat or a Republican. I do think Warner did a reasonably good job as governor.
My question is, What kind of a Democrat do we get if we elect Obama? Do we get a Hillary Clinton-type avenger who will take back Washington for the trial lawyers and unions? This would just be a left-wing version of George Bush’s mistake when he took back Washington for the fat cats. Or do we get a Warner-type problem solver who specifically avoids demonizing and insulting opponents?

After last nights forum (Saddleback), I think we have the answer to your “What kind of a Democrat do we get if we elect Obama?”.
What a great two hours that was. Very enlightening.

i am not so sure you can tell what you will get. i could easily see obama putting on the nice act and then going hard left after getting in. both candidates seem tied up by their special interests. i am not sure our system can do anything else.

I predict he will lose but if I’m wrong………we’ll get a typical redistribute the wealth, liberal democrat. Maybe he’ll just provide comic relief like Jimmy Carter did.

The reception that Governor Warner got at the Democratic convention was telling. He got polite applause and some bad reviews when the delegates wanted more bashing of the opposition. I guess it’s hard to be a moderate in either party any more. Even when Warner spoke his required McCain-bashing lines he didn’t seem to have his heart in it.
