It’s on! Bridgewater Snow Contest 2009
It’s back! The snow contest returns, thanks to the generosity of a local Bob-a-Rea’s fan. A gift certificate for $25 for Bob-a-Rea’s is the prize for the winner of the First Snowfall Prediction Contest. Here are the rules:
- Each participant can choose a single date. The date that you select must be December 25 or earlier.
- The person coming closest to the date wins.
- Once your date passes, you are out of the contest.
- You must predict your date at least 5 days in advance of the snowfall.
- The snowfall must be at least 1 inch in Bridgewater, as judged by the Webmaster’s wife.
- If there’s no winner by Christmas, the gift certificate will be given away in a drawing.
Other Bridgewater area businesses: If you have a prize to offer, step up! and get free publicity.
To enter your prediction, just “leave a reply” on this post using your Bridgewater Buzz username. But you don’t have to have a username to enter. Just enter a comment anyway, using “guest@bridgewaterva.com” as your email. Be sure, though, to label your prediction with a screen name (no real names, please).
If you have questions, post them as comments to this thread.

OK webmaster…. you shamed me into it…. I’ll offer another fresh Christmas wreath…. your rules apply. (Ps. I don’t want to win the wreath)
November 24th, 2009 at 5:21 pm
December 21
November 24th, 2009 at 5:28 pm
Webmaster…looks like my interest in bringing the contest back (even if it was without a prize) has paid off…now we have 2 prizes
So how is that going to play out?
November 24th, 2009 at 5:34 pm
Treeman – you’re back
And thanks for offering a wreath…fyi for those who have never won…treeman’s wreaths are beautiful !! It better snow on Dec. 9 so I can either get my belly overstuffed or add to my holiday decorations. Treeman, you said you didn’t want to win the wreath (naturally) but you didn’t submit a prediction…better get it in – the dates are becoming very thin.

> Webmaster…looks like my interest in bringing the contest back (even if it was without a prize) has paid off…now we have 2 prizes

We’ll just give the one winner both prizes — gift certificate to Bob-a-Rea’s and wreath from Treeman. It’s a prize package!
November 29th, 2009 at 8:20 pm
Hope everyone had a nice Thanksgiving and drives safely if they have to travel long distance. As always, we followed tradition and put up our Christmas decorations in the house…can’t wait to see all the outdoor lights and displays…always so pretty…now if we just had snow for Christmas day…
December 2nd, 2009 at 1:16 pm
Au Contrare BSniffles…. I believe in post # 10 I chose Dec. 5… was that taken?
December 3rd, 2009 at 2:59 am
Treeman…sorry
My bad…guess the years are starting to take a toll on these eyes
December 4th, 2009 at 7:39 am
It looks as though Treeman may end it up winning if the forecast holds up for Sat.
December 5th, 2009 at 2:53 am
Treeman – I agree with Sam…I just checked the weather forecast and see the National Weather Service has changed from an advisory to a winter storm warning…looks like you’re gonna be the winner
)
I’ll be the first to say… “Congrats”
I’m so excited!! I love how beautiful everything is when it snows!
December 5th, 2009 at 1:53 pm
Well…. I guess I am the winner…. only problem is I already have a wreath or two…. but I will take the the Bobs gift certificate. Webmaster, who would have won had I not had the 5th? Perhaps McGill, who took Pearl Harbor Day?
December 6th, 2009 at 6:28 pm
Why not put the wreath up for the 2nd measurable snow.
December 6th, 2009 at 7:42 pm
Yes, the next closest guesser was McGill. Also: Treeman, if you’ll send me your address I’ll mail you the gift certificate. Just use the form at http://bridgewaterva.com/contact-us/ .
Thanks to all who entered guesses! . . . and special thanks to bsniffles, who got the ball rolling for this year’s contest.
December 6th, 2009 at 8:23 pm
Even my family was amused with the contest…they often asked me how many guesses the buzz had and what day…then chuckled and jokingly teased me when it snowed yesterday because I didn’t win – all in good fun
December 6th, 2009 at 10:30 pm
Wellllll, McGill… the way our past couple of winters have gone, there may well not be another snow before Christmas, and I sure would like for someone to be able to enjoy the wreath for the holidays.
December 8th, 2009 at 4:46 pm
Hey, Treeman, I have your gift certificate for Bob-a-Rea’s right in front of me . . . let me know a mailing address and I’ll send it right out to you.
December 8th, 2009 at 9:03 pm
Well, the ground is white…again
Treeman, although the snow is mixed with sleet, it’s still a snow fall…don’t know about the one inch though. Does that still count?
RE: and I sure would like for someone to be able to enjoy the wreath for the holidays.
(ya gotta give me an “A” for “effort”…I’m trying hard to win that wreath
December 9th, 2009 at 3:39 pm
Well, that didn’t last long…oh well, it was pretty for the night anyway. Perhaps we’ll have that “White Christmas”
December 9th, 2009 at 8:01 pm
As the second closest guesser….as confirmed by the webmaster, it would seem the wreath could be my prize. However, since I really have no need for one (and I’m sure they are beautiful) may I be allowed to give it to our friend bsniffles? She seemed to really enjoy it and I too, would like someone to enjoy it.
If this isn’t acceptable, the webmaster could pick a number and let everyone guess.
December 11th, 2009 at 9:21 am
mcgill, that is so sweet of you…thanks so much
I’d love to have that wreath! How bout it treeman? Anyone have any objections? Perhaps the webmaster could draw names as he did in a previous year. I don’t want to offend anyone… no sense waiting until Christmas gets here…even if I don’t get it I’d like to see someone enjoy it as well.
December 12th, 2009 at 7:23 am
OK Webmaster, McGill has kindly deferred to Bsniffles claim to white ground? I can make it up this afternoon and we can make arrangements to get it to Bridgewater in short order. Does her claim fly…. Christmas is all too rapidly approaching and that wreath would love make someone smile.
And…..Merry Christmas McGill, you obviously have the spirit God intended for this holiday!

Well, I’ll second all that and endorse the McGill-to-Bsniffles claim.
Merry Christmas to all!
December 13th, 2009 at 1:32 pm
Yeah
Thank you all so much! And to repeat what treeman and the webmaster have already stated…. Merry Christmas to all!
December 16th, 2009 at 12:26 pm
Web Master/Bsniffles… I need Bsniffles contact info ?
December 16th, 2009 at 2:53 pm
We’re not supposed to post personal info on here, so how do I pass on info? I forgot how we done it before.
December 16th, 2009 at 3:02 pm
PS…I think I found it…I sent email to webmaster from the contact webmaster link – included my phone number. If this is not the correct way, please advise.
December 17th, 2009 at 7:05 am
That all worked, and email just went to you both (treeman and bsniffles) with the information. Thanks also for keeping personal information secure — wouldn’t be a problem in our little community, but the whole world can see this site. (Not that it would want to — who in Kalamazoo cares when it snows an inch in Bridgewater?)
December 18th, 2009 at 7:23 am
PS…
thanks to McGill, treeman, webmaster, and everyone else…I know I’ll enjoy it
December 19th, 2009 at 11:06 am
Well, the wreath was delivered and I must say a great big THANK YOU to treeman…it is so beautiful!! He truly has a remarkable talent.
