I read in the newspaper that 7-11 is in talks with Quarles concerning the purchase of their entire operation, Bridgewater branch included. If they are at the alcohol permit stage it must the a done deal. Gotta love 7-11 coffee.

Honestly, I don’t see how Dicksons has made it this long. We used to go there (a looooong time ago) to get prescriptions filled. But with Bridgewater pharmacy now in town, we don’t go there at all. I guess those that live near by it go there, but as far as myself, I bet I haven’t stepped through the doors in 5 years or more.
As far as Quarles becoming 7-11, I haven’t heard. However, why did they close their other store in the first place. I thought it was because it didn’t create enough revenue…. I guess it really doesn’t matter whether it’s Quarles or 7-11. It seems to me that it’s a big money maker based on location and I can’t see Quarles going down.

The old 7-11 was a franchise and the owner closed it when he couldn’t get anyone to buy his franchise. I’m betting it wasn’t a corporate decision.
I agree with you about Dickson’s. I remember when it was a thriving business when Doc Petcher ran the place.
Actually, I remember when Dickson’s was at the Francesco’s location.

Awwww. That makes sense. I completely forgot that 7-11’s are independently owned. So, I wonder if Quarles is struggling financially? I thought Quarles was actually larger on scale then 7-11. I guess time will tell. I have to admit, I do miss having a 7-11 in Bwater. I use to go there all the time for my slurppy fix. Especially during the fire company parade every year. It had kind of become tradition for my family.

does anyone know what brand of gas the new 7-11 will have. i just got a shell master card because the quarles pumps kept reminding me how much i would save by getting that card. on the little printed receipt. about two bucks a week.

I was told by an employee of Quarles a few weeks ago that 7-11 had bought them out. Keep in mind, rumors have a way of engulfing so I can’t confirm this – its just hearsay but I’m guessing that an employee would know for sure as they are usually the first ones to know. As for Dicksons, I agree with Tink – don’t see how they’ve made it this long. We used to go in there weekly to look at their specials – they did have interesting items. However, the pharmacist (which from my understanding is the owner) is hateful not only to her employees but customers as well. Though I’ve never had an altercation with her, I have observed her rudeness many times with employees and customers. We haven’t been in there for 3 years now. I think maybe its time for her to retire and try to enjoy life instead of working all the time.

different perceptions. i have had good luck with the pharmacist there. chasing down insurance problems and so on. but i know others may have seen a different side of things.

If memory serves, I believe the pharmacist is the reason my mother stopped going there. I think her father maybe worked there before and I think everyone liked him. When he retired and she took over, my mom didn’t have good luck with her and stopped going. With as small of a store Dickson’s is and in a community like Bwater, she really should develop better communication skills.

Yes, Quarles has sold out to 7-Eleven and operations with 711 should begin within the next few months (that’s my understanding). I hope that 7-Eleven will maintain the facilities that Bullets and Quarles have maintained.
