Say it isn’t so: Mrs. Rowe’s closing
I wish it weren’t true, but Mrs. Rowe’s Country Buffet at Mt. Crawford has closed for regular customers. It is continuing to honor previously made banquet commitments. Initial reports aren’t clear on whether they’ll attempt to continue as a catering-banquet business for the long haul.

We just ate there Friday. What a shame, such a nice place. It will be missed.

I won’t miss it… it certainly wasn’t Eavers…

I agree with Treeman. We ate there one time after it bought out Eavers and it was awful. Food was cold and not much variety. I can think of better places to eat in near-by towns.

by the time it closed i have to say the quality was not what it once was. still i wish someone would continue to run a restaurant there.

I don’t think it will sit empty for long. It has a great location and ample parking. Hopefully someone will buy it and open it back up. I did enjoy it when it was Eavers, but when Mrs. Rowe’s bought it, it went downhill and we just didn’t care for it anymore.

if it were for sale i feel sure it would not sit empty for long. as i read the news reports it is not for sale. and the current owners will continue to run a banquet business there. just not open to the public.

Ahhh. I misunderstood this. Based on the original posting by the webmaster, it stated that they would honor all previously scheduled banquets, but it was unclear if they would continue with future banquets and catering. I think keeping the building open for banquets only would be a huge waste of a building. They don’t need that whole building simply for banquets. Hopefully, that aspect of the business won’t last either and someone new can buy it and re-open it to the public.

I just drove by and noticed that the Mrs. Rowe’s property has been listed with commercial real estate agent Barry Pugh of Old Dominion. So, there’s no doubt — it’s for sale.

Mrs. Rowe’s had the BEST fried oysters, even better then the fried oysters in Charleston, SC and Savannah, GA. We will definitely miss Mrs. Rowe’s. We ate there many Sundays after church.

We drive up from Roanoke several times a year, and admittedly, since the Rowe group took over, the trips have been less frequent. We would meet family from above Winchester as a half-way meeting point, shop at the Windmill stores and then go back home.
PLEASE let me know if it reopens.

My wife likes the oysters at Traditions. Not a fan of oysters, myself.
