new rockingham memorial hospital
just wanted to pass along best wishes to all those involved in the big move of patients and staff to the new hospital. i know it has been a long time coming. and i am impressed with the new hospital. will be great for patients and staff and family. and i understand how there were some things that just could not be done by renovating the old hospital. my only reservation is this. as big and good a deal as this is for our community. is it possible the publicity campaign about the move was a bit too much. just asking.

I agree Mousie. I think they spent a bit too much on advertising for the new hospital. Everyday, I would see at least 10 commercials on TV, see the numerous ads in teh newspaper, and not to mention the huge billboards on the Interstate. I’m not sure why they felt the need to advertise it so much. I will be glad when it’s open and all the fuss stops.

Looking back, I’m not so sure the publicity campaign was excessive. RMH is in a battle with Augusta Medical and now has a hospital fully capable of competing with them. It’s an important time for our broader community.
All the same, I too am glad the move is done.

Even before the new hospital, RMH ads were much more excessive than AMC ads. I live in Augusta County and I saw a lot more advertisement for RMH than AMC. I understand they are in competition with AMC, but I don’t think AMC waste as much money on advertising as RMH. Me personally, I will go to whatever hospital is closest at the time I need their services. It doesn’t matter how many ads I see for RMH. I mean, they had the commercials on TV, large billboards in Hburg, spots in the DNR, and if you look at WHSV’s website, they had huge banners on there as well. I just think it was a bit much. That money could be spent on better things than advertisement for a hospital. I just don’t think of a hospital like a business. Most of the time, you don’t get to choose where you go. They take you to the nearest one. I got kind of tired of seeing signs that showed 5 days left, 4 days left, 3 days left, etc……

After taking a tour a few months ago, one has to wonder…..how much money was spent on “pretty” ? Buildings should be attractive but is there a point where the consumer’s interests aren’t being served?
The bottom line is that the new RMH will be great asset to our community.
