Wildwood Park

Wildwood Park is a pleasant place to spend some time. The park is located at the west end of Bank Street in Bridgewater. To get there, take Main Street (Route 42) south through the middle of town and turn right on Bank Street. Continue on Bank Street until it bears left at an intersection with Pope Street.

Highlights of the park include:

  • Nice views of the North River as it runs across the shallows
  • Picnic shelter with fireplace
  • Upstream, quieter waters behind a small dam
  • Suspension bridge across to what's traditionally called "the island" (actually, a peninsula)
  • Play place with swings and play structure
  • Rest room facilities
  • Graveled nature trail around the wooded areas of the park, with plantings

A 1996 flood swept away an earlier bridge and a clubhouse. The bridge was built back, but the clubhouse (as it was) is not scheduled to be replaced.

The picnic shelter is available by reservation by calling the Town offices at 828-6980.

The park has been adopted by John Wayland Elementary School, which has brought in hundreds of students on special days for learning activities and park restoration projects following the 1996 flood.
